Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What's a Zine?
A zine is a self-published, non-commercial collection of fanworks which are usually framed around a single topic or theme. Originally, these were printed and circulated in small numbers, however, e-zines continue to be an incredibly popular way of packaging these works digitally online.
Will the Zine be Available in Print Format?
The zine will have a limited print run as a reward tier for our crowdfunding campaign but will not be available to purchase separately. The primary distribution method for the zine is going to be digital (offered for free).
What Was the Crowdfunding Campaign for?
The primary goal was to raise funds to do a small print run for those who wanted it. Backers at specific tiers were able to select whether they wanted a paperback or hardback version of the zine.
Is This an Official Killzone Project?
This is an entirely unofficial, fan-created project that stems from our love of the series as players. We do not own the rights to Killzone and aren't officially tied to its developer, Guerrilla Games. The Killzone IP is owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).
When is the Zine Expected to be Published?
The zine is intended to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series, with the original Killzone having launched on PS2 on November 2, 2004. We're aiming for the same publication date.
Are You Going to be Paying Your Contributors?
As fanzines are passion projects not created to be sold, we unfortunately can't offer financial compensation to our contributors. We will be crediting everyone involved in the zine itself, on social, and on this website.
How Do You Feel About the Horizon Series?
We love Horizon and the vibrant and savage world Aloy inhabits. We won't be engaging in any Horizon vs Killzone discourse. We're huge fans of Guerrilla, and we believe (with a big enough team) both titles could (and should) live in harmony.
How Do You Feel About Non-Inclusive Behaviour?
It should go without saying that we take a zero tolerance policy on discrimination, hate, and toxicity. Unfortunately, due to the nature of Killzone's themes and setting, a very small portion of the fandom can engage in distasteful practices. We're not going to empower or support those people.
